What Upswing knows about you.

Upswing reads public data from YouTube through the YouTube Data API. By using Upswing you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of data on their side is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.

You can see and remove Upswing’s access to your Google account at any time from your Google security settings.

Signing in runs through Google. Upswing receives the basics Google returns for a sign in: your email address, your name, and your profile picture.

Upswing does not request access to your YouTube account. It cannot see your private analytics, your drafts, your comments or your subscriber list, and it cannot upload, edit, publish or delete anything on any channel. When you attach a channel, Upswing stores its public channel ID and reads the same public information about it that any viewer can see.

• The topics you score, and the score each one received.
• Topics you ask Upswing to watch, and the scores it recorded for them over time.
• Ideas and titles you star.
• Any result you choose to share, its contents, and how many times the link has been opened.
• Which YouTube channels you have attached, by their public channel IDs.
• Feedback you send, along with the path of the page you were on when you sent it. Form contents and URL fragments are stripped before the message is stored.
• A count of how many distinct topics you scored each day, which is what the daily limit is measured against.

All of it is tied to your account. It exists so the app can show you your own history, keep what you starred, and avoid spending API quota on a question it already answered.

Scoring a topic means reading public YouTube results: video titles, view counts, publish dates and durations, plus channel names, handles, subscriber counts and thumbnails. None of this is private and all of it is visible to anyone browsing YouTube.

Upswing caches it so that scoring the same topic twice does not spend the quota twice. Under the YouTube API Services Developer Policies this data cannot be kept indefinitely, so a scheduled job deletes anything older than 30 days. A topic you scored last month is fetched fresh rather than served from a stale copy.

Upswing is a small app standing on other people’s infrastructure. These are all of them:

• Vercel hosts the app and counts page views. The view counter sets no cookies and does not identify you.
• Supabase runs the database and handles sign in. Everything listed above lives there.
• Google provides sign in, the YouTube Data API, and the search interest figures behind the demand score.
• Anthropic generates the ideas and titles. The topic you typed and the public video titles already ranking for it are sent to the Claude API. Your email address and your account are not.
• SerpApi retrieves the Google Trends figures. It receives the topic as a search term and nothing else.

Your data is not sold, rented, or handed to advertisers or data brokers. Nobody is building a profile on you here. There is no advertising in Upswing and no plan to add any. The topics you search are not shared with other users, and nothing you score is visible to anyone else unless you create a share link yourself.

Two cookies. One keeps you signed in. One remembers whether you chose light or dark. Neither tracks you across other sites, and there is no advertising or analytics cookie to decline.

Email jon@jflnetwork.com and your account is deleted along with everything attached to it. Every row Upswing stores about you is keyed to your account and removed with it: the searches, the watch list, the stars, the share links, the attached channels.

You can also cut Upswing off without emailing anyone, by removing its access in your Google security settings. That stops future sign ins; email if you want the stored rows gone too.

Traffic runs over HTTPS. Database access is governed by row level security, so a signed in account can only read its own rows. API keys live in server side environment variables and are never sent to the browser. No system is perfect, and Upswing is a beta product built by a small team, which is worth knowing before you put anything sensitive into it. It is a tool for picking video topics, so there should be no reason to.

Upswing is built for people running YouTube channels and is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email the address above and it will be removed.

When this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change materially affects what is collected or who receives it, signed in users are told in the app rather than left to notice a new date.
